Every home we build, every family we serve, is part of a community. As are we. That’s why through our Wellen Cares initiatives, we work to give back to the communities we serve. Among our current and ongoing efforts are:
Camp Jabberwocky (www.campjabberwocky.org)
This is a residential camp on Martha’s Vineyard for adults and children with special needs. We sponsor the Camp Jabberwocky Fishing Tournament each year. The Wellen team enlists family and friends to donate their boats and their time to make the event a success.
Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (mdsc.org)
Wellen CEO Charlie Gadbois is a past president of the MDSC Board of Directors. After welcoming a daughter with Down syndrome into the world, Charlie sought out other parents and professionals to learn how to help her reach her full potential in life. That led to his activism with MDSC. Among his efforts there, Charlie established and coordinates the MDSC’s annual Boston Bruins Alumni Charity Game. To date, the event has raised over $500,000 for this wonderful organization.
Bridge Over Troubled Waters (www.bridgeotw.org)
Bridge is Boston’s premier organization dedicated to transforming the lives of runaway, homeless and high-risk youth through safe, supportive and encouraging relationships and effective services that guide them toward self-sufficiency. For their annual fundraising event each spring, Wellen Construction donates a custom-built tree house for their auction. We work with the winning bidder to design and build a tree house on their property.
